Denver, CO- Liz Smith, Director of Operations at Monroe Group Ltd. is recognized this month by the Denver Business Journal as one of Denver’s “Outstanding Women in Business.”  The annual list highlights the accomplishments of twenty-seven women in nine categories for their entrepreneurship, professional accomplishment, community leadership, and innovation.   Smith is one of twenty-seven business leaders honored out of over 200 nominations.

Liz Smith is Vice President of Operations at Monroe Group, Ltd. a Denver-based affordable multi-family housing management company with 23 properties in five states totaling 3,500 units.  In her capacity, Smith is responsible for overseeing the company’s financial operations, risk management, property maintenance and hiring.  Since joining Monroe Group in 2006, Smith has managed a significant growth in the company as it doubled in size in 2006 and doubled in size again in 2007.  Under her leadership, the company saw a smooth transition from only a handful of staff to over 150 personnel.  Today Smith manages operations of over $9.5 million for Monroe Group.

Prior to joining Monroe Group in 2006, Smith worked for the Colorado Division of Housing as an asset manager and Housing Development Specialist. In addition she was a Private Activity Bond Manager for the Division of Housing where she managed a $400 million program.  She also served as the multifamily lending officer in the commercial lending division of the Colorado Housing Finance Authority. 

Throughout her career, Liz has demonstrated a real passion and continued support for affordable housing and has worked in the field in various capacities for the past 10 years.  Additionally, Liz supports various and numerous non-profit organizations in the Denver community.  Her well-rounded, out-reaching, and warm personality makes Liz Smith a truly Outstanding Woman in Business.
