Construction of the Castle Park building began in 1871 and was completed in 1892. Castle Park was originally built to house a mental hospital run by Catholic nuns. Castle Park has 6 floors and 4 underground tunnels and several towers which give it the appearance of a medieval castle. The building still has the original marbles floors that were shipped from Italy, original tile slate roofs from France and some of the original lighting fixtures as well.
